Finding property in Galicia Spain (estate agents)
An increasing number of people are now looking to buy property in Galicia (Spain), either as a holiday home or for a more permanent relocation.
Houses and rural property in Galicia "can" offer good value and are often situated in stunning locations, sometimes with good sized plots of land, and occasionally near to a beach (although these are hard to find and are normally expensive).
If you are interested in buying a holiday home in Galicia you will need both legal and real estate (realtor) professionals based in Galicia who can help you find the right property in the right location and guide you through the complete purchasing process with confidence and security. This may sound simple, but you are in a foreign country with a different language and a different legal system, so it really is a case of buyer beware. Many properties in Galicia have complex deeds, no deeds at all, multiple ownership, or questions over ownership. This means that trying to do things on your own, or taking bad advice can be costly time consuming and ultimately disastrous.
Additionally, many people choosing to buy a property in Galicia like the idea of buying an old house with a view to renovating it. This in turn requires planning permissions and of course a builder, so there is a lot to think about and a lot to plan. All told, if you are considering buying a potential home in any of the Galician provinces, approach the decision with care and the help of qualified professionals. If you do this the chances are that your outcome will be a desirable one.

Although Galicia is in Spain, it differs from Spain in many ways and the typical Spanish holiday villa is not typical of the type of house that you will find for sale in this region. Northern Spain has many rural homes and, although you can find a limited number of typically Spanish style beach villas for sale with swimming pools and other amenities, most people who buy property in this region are looking for a degree of seclusion, or a more laid back rural lifestyle.
If you want to buy a beach home then search around the coast. The provinces of la Coruna, Pontevedra and areas like Cambados and Sanxenxo are good beach resorts when it comes to buying property and getting reasonable summers.
If you want to buy a rural holiday retreat away from everything, then look in Lugo and Ourense for this kind of real estate, but remember that isolation also has some negatives when it comes to facilities, shops, hospitals etc. These factors may not seem important before you make the move, but they will become critical afterwards.
